Position Summary

Develop and sets-up new and repeat production processes following documented procedures on complex short and long run jobs. Operates CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) lathes or mills or to machine metallic and nonmetallic workpieces to produce precision machined parts to acceptable levels of efficiency and quality on both new and existing production processes. Operates required machining centers on all production work involving skill and dexterity. Makes necessary machine adjustments and debug process issues to ensure satisfactory production. Inspect work for obvious defects and dimensional integrity. Help guide/mentor lesser skilled employees with daily production and quality output.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to adhering to the policies of the company outlined in the PGM Employee Handbook, an individual servicing in this capacity shall consistently able to:

  • Set-up a wide variety CNC mills and/or lathes on processes using proper procedures and equipment to establish and ensure consistent and efficient operation, optimum perishable tooling usage, and acceptable quality levels.
  • Operate CNC mills and/or lathes, running new and existing production jobs per established processes.
  • Work with CNC Setup Programmers and/or CNC Programmers in debugging and developing new production processes and knowledgeable in programming skills.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, as required.
  • Provide training and instruction to operators and trainees in the operation and preventative maintenance of CNC mills and/or lathes and proper usage of required inspection equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain perishable tooling inventory for each assigned job.
  • Establish and perform all required inspection duties to maintain high quality levels.
  • Follow any and/all process inspection procedures.
  • Inform Supervisor and work in conjunction with necessary resources to eliminate problems associated with equipment, processes or procedures trying to explore, develop and recommend continuous improvement ideas in a timely manner.
  • Analyzes and comprehends blueprint and specifications for requirements such as dimensions and tolerances tooling instructions on fixturing gaging and print rev. level.
  • Complete job related paperwork accurately and completely, which includes: expedite sheets, move tickets, job cards, NCMR’s, reqs and cost outs.
  • Basic GD&T skills.
  • Basic and Advanced Vantage training
  • Follow company policies as outlined in the employee handbook and set an example for others to follow.
  • Mentor lesser skilled operators to help achieve goals
  • Works with engineers to analyze and address problems.
  • Perform setups, teardowns and organize perishable tool lists - tooling to proper kit location.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities

Ability to direct others in training and general processes; Vantage; move tags; general PGM policies.





Experience and Skills:

Education, Training and/or Experience

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and 8-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
